Credit acceptance

If you wish to have credits from a previous degree program recognized, this must be done by the end of the first semester of (re-)enrollment at the LMU.

Credits earned from previous degree programs (completed or terminated) must be accepted, at the latest, by the end of the first semester in which the student is (re-)enrolled at the LMU.

To clarify the requirements for recognition of external or internal credits and to begin the application process, please contact us as early as possible.

The process of accepting previous academic credits takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks.

Step 1: Submit documents

Please submit the following documents via email:

  • Transcript listing the credits to be recognized
  • Module handbook describing the credits to be recognized

If you have any questions about your transcript, please first contact the relevant advisor at the Examination Office for Humanities and Social Sciences (PAGS).

Deadline: End of the lecture period of the first semester of enrollment

Step 2: Validation

Department of Sociology

Our goal is to enable credit acceptance whenever possible and handle differences flexibly. We therefore carefully review your previous credits for significant differences from the requirements of our degree programs.

Step 3: Posting

Examination Office (PAGS)

After review and approval, the case is forwarded to the Examination Office for registration and entered into the system by the responsible staff member.
