What different forms of family are there? And what are their implications? This film series offers explorations of diverse images of family within current arthouse film and includes an additional set of lectures. The selection of auteur films ranges from different countries and across multiple genres discussing family as complex networks. The films offer a variety of perspectives on and a broad range of interpretations to the concept of family.

The films will be screened on Tuesdays, starting at 15:30. The subsequent lecture and discussion will take place at LMU from 18:15 to 19:45. Various experts from the interdisciplinary research network ForFamily and scholars in the field of film and religion illuminate the particular film from their perspective. The series of films and lectures is organized by the chair for the Study of Religion and History of Religion at the Faculty of Protestant Theology at LMU arises from the research project «The family in film. Media as a place of negotiation of family narratives, values and transformations» which is part of the network ForFamily.
